What is Blackstone Launchpad?
Blackstone Launchpad is a university focused funding and networking resource for college students, who have ideas and build companies while still in school. The creators of the launchpad program are Blackstone charitable foundation, Techstars, and participating universities across the globe.
The Blackstone Group L.P. is the largest alternative investment firm in the world. With a $130B in private equity assets, Blackstone holds a portfolio of over 95 companies, producing $82B in annual revenue. Blackstone has a track record of driving transformative impact across industries while fostering disciplined due diligence. By believing in students, and funding their dreams, Blackstone is fostering innovation constantly. With Launchpad funding and guidance, students can create a company that is ready and able to apply to an accelerator like Techstars.
Techstars is one of the largest seed accelerators in the world. Founded in Boulder, Colorado in 2006, Techstars believes in giving first, and doing more faster. In 2007, they hosted their first accelerator program, giving $15k in exchange for 5% equity from ten start-up companies. Beyond the funding, each company was given access to office space, operational support, and mentoring. Fast forward to 2019, Techstars has funded 1,599 companies with $6.2B in total funding.
Blackstone Launchpad is a powerful partnership between the two companies, one that transforms the start-up landscape every day.
Owls on the Hill
The Blackstone Launchpad chapter at Temple presented ConsiderCode with the opportunity to represent Temple at the Pennsylvania capital building for Owls on the Hill. This events fosters a working relationship between PA state legislators and students at Temple University. However traveling with Temple’s Stella the Owl was the best part of the day.
Without the belief, guidance, and support of Blackstone Launchpad, ConsiderCode would not be where it is today. Obviously as entrepreneurs launching a company, support is always appreciated. From the beginning we consistently received that support from Julie Stapleton Carroll, and the incredible people at the Temple Launchpad. Through Temple Launchpad, we received funded trips to pitch competitions, free Amazon Web Services credits, and even box tickets to Temple basketball games.
